Multimodal sentiment analysis based on modal information interaction

Abstract

Coarse-grained attention mechanisms based on global semantic interactions can't effectively use the interconnection between modalities to extract the key parts of modal information, which affects classification results. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposed a modal information interaction model, which extracted the local semantic association features of the modality through a fine-grained attention mechanism and used them for sentiment classification. Firstly, the intra-modal information interaction module constructed intra-modal connections and generated intra-modal interaction features. Then the inter-modal information interaction module used intra-modal information interaction features to generate gating vectors, which focused on the appropriate parts of the text(image), thereby obtaining inter-modal information interaction. Finally, considering the redundant information in the features, the model also added an adaptive feature fusion module to select features from the global feature level, enhanced the expression ability of key features containing emotional information, and weakened the impact of redundant information on classification results. Experimental results on two public datasets MVSA-Single and MVSA-Multi demon-strate that the model outperforms a series of baseline models.
