Cloth simulation based on grid-hierarchical dynamic simulation method

Abstract

In the process of cloth dynamic simulation, convergence and efficiency are two core indicators, which can well reflect the performance of simulation. To approve the convergence and quality in cloth dynamic simulation, this paper proposed an approach which was based on grid-hierarchical simulation. This method constructed a hierarchical constrained grid on the basis of the original grid using the hierarchical idea. In this process, it used various decision functions to streamline the grid to adapt different target requirements. After completing the construction, this paper used the proposed weighted association model to rectify each level. In the process of simulation, the proposed approach used hierarchical constraint grid to constrain the origi-nal grid from the coarse layer to the finest layer to improve the convergence speed, which effectively avoided the problem of increasing the number of iterations in the traditional way. To show the simulation performance, this paper simulated dynamic cloth under the cycle pendulum wind field. The results show that under the simulation of grid-hierarchical method, it can well solve the constraint oscillation problem of the traditional simulation, and the proposed method is more efficiency and stable.
