Transmission power control algorithm based on channel load forecasting in VANET

Abstract

In VANET, when traffic flow reaches a certain density will cause the channel congestion, thus causing inefficiency of cooperative security applications. Aiming at this issue, this paper designed a beacon message transmission power control algorithm based on channel load forecasting. First of all, it evaluated the current time channel load by channel busy time ratio(CBR). Secondly, it predicted the next time channel load by the autoregressive integrated moving average model(ARIMA). Finally, it compared the value of channel load forecasting with the preset threshold, and adaptived adjustment of the next moment transmission power to avoid channel congestion. The simulation experiment shows that the algorithm can effectively reduce the communication transmission delay and avoid channel congestion, ensuring that the data be sent reliably.
