Research on central flight track extraction based on simplified track model

Abstract

In view of the existing problems of the central flight track extraction method, such as approach turning points were easy to be missing, the amount of data was huge and the computation time was time-consuming, some flight track points were not representative, this paper proposed a central fight track extraction method based on simplified track model. Firstly, this method simplified the flight track point data according to the idea of "replace curve by straight". Then it clustered the characteristic based on flight track course, obtained the average heading and the center flight track locating point. Finally, it used the B spline curve to fit and obtain the central flight track. Simulation results show that the number of flight track points decreases by 78.92% using the proposed method, at the same time, it obtains the central flight track accurately, and solves the problem of turning point missing and time consuming. The result also proves that the new method is accurate and effective for the extraction of central flight track.
