Benefit maximization caching strategy in edge cache system based on consortium blockchain

Abstract

Edge caching technology places hotspots in advance on the edge of the network closer to the users, which can significantly reduce transmission delay and improve network transmission efficiency. However, different operators deploy edge devices independently, which requires a vast investment. The cached contents are isolated from each other and cannot be shared. Aiming at this problem, this paper improved the architecture of an edge cache system based on consortium chain, so that the edge devices deployed by different operators could break the content isolation and achieved a wider range of content sharing. In addition, this paper designed a content transaction process based on smart contract, making the cooperation between different operators credible, fair and traceable. Finally, considering the popularity of popular content, file size, transmission delay, etc., it priced the hotspot content and determined the location of cache content by maximizing benefits. The simulation results show that the benefit maximization caching strategy based on this architecture can effectively increase the revenue of edge caching.
