Joint subcarrier and power allocation in OFDM SWIPT based two-way communication networks

Abstract

This paper investigated the resource allocation problem of the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT) two-way communication networks based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, and proposed a joint subcarrier and power allocation(JSPA) algorithm, which was neither dependent upon the power splitting nor the time switching schemes and simplified the design of SWIPT principles, transfers information and energy using different subcarriers. Considering the saturation characteristic of actual energy harvesting circuit, the JSPA algorithm, which was developed by using Lagrange dual and subgradient methods and thus was based on the nonlinear energy harvesting model, was formulated to minimize the energy consumption of networks under condition that satisfied the required rate of the destination. The numerical simulation results validate both the JSPA algorithm's effectiveness in the joint allocation of network resources and its high energy efficiency.
